re-excision lumpectomy [also called re-excision]

(ree-ek-SIZH-in lump-EK-tum-ee)

Surgery to remove extra tissue around the place where the cancer used to be. This is done to get clear margins around the cancer and to make sure no more cancer cells are left behind.
