pegfilgrastim (brand name: Neulasta)

(peg-FILL-grass-tim)

A drug that helps increase the number of white blood cells. These are special cells of your immune system that help fight infection. Pegfilgrastim (brand name: Neulasta) is like Neupogen (chemical name: filgrastim), but it lasts much longer. You get it once a month. You get Neupogen daily.

These medications belong to the group of drugs called G-CSFs (granulocyte colony-stimulating factors).
