myelosuppression

(my-low-sup-RESH-en)

A condition in which the bone marrow makes fewer blood cells. This means there are fewer red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. It is a side effect of some cancer treatments.

Read about low red blood cell count (anemia), low white blood cell count, or low blood platelet count (bleeding and bruising problems) as side effects of breast cancer treatment.
