cooperative group

(koh-OP-er-a-tiv GROOP)

A group of doctors, hospitals, or both, working together to treat a large number of people in the same way. This is done so that new treatment can be tested quickly. Clinical trials of new cancer treatments often require many more people than a single doctor or hospital can care for. This is also a good way to include different kinds of people from different parts of the country or the world.
