anti-angiogenesis

(AN-tee-an-jee-oh-JEN-eh-sis)

Blocking the formation of new blood vessels that cancer cells need in order to grow. The formation of new blood vessels is called angiogenesis.

The targeted therapy Avastin (chemical name: bevacizumab) is an anti-angiogenesis medication.
